This Privacy Policy explains how Directory.com.au Pty Ltd (ABN 68 090 816 461) ("we", "us") handles personal information for Accountants.Contact at accountants.contact, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email, business name, ABN and login credentials.
- Business & financial data you enter — invoices, bills, contacts, bank transactions, payroll and employee details (which may include tax file numbers and bank account details), and related records.
- Payment information — handled by Stripe; we receive limited details (e.g. card brand/last 4, subscription status) but not your full card number.
- Usage & technical data — log data, IP address, device/browser information and actions taken in the app (including an audit log).
- Support interactions — messages you send via our contact/support forms or the in-app AI chat assistant.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, secure and improve the Service;
- To process your subscription and payments;
- To provide support and respond to enquiries;
- To send service and account notifications;
- To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
3. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Accountants.Contact, under appropriate safeguards, including:
- Stripe — payment processing;
- Caimunicate — powers our AI support chat assistant (messages you send in the chat are processed to generate replies);
- Hosting and infrastructure providers;
- Authorities or advisers where required by law.
4. Storage & security
Your data is stored in an isolated, per-organisation database. We use access controls, role-based permissions and a CSRF-protected application layer. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no online service is completely secure. You should use a strong, unique password and restrict who you invite to your workspace.
5. Cookies
We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers.
6. Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations (financial records often must be kept for several years). You can export your data at any time, and may request deletion subject to those obligations.
7. Access & correction
You can access and correct most information directly in the app. To request access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold, contact us using the details below.
8. Overseas disclosure
Some service providers (e.g. payment and AI processing) may store or process data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the APPs.
9. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will investigate. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
